Plet Stewart

By | Decor and Set ups, Foodie | One Comment

Another “Martha Stewart” friend who has nice set ups, Plet Bolipata Borlongan.  Being an artist, she is as creative in the dining table as she is in her works of art! She mixes and matches the linens, the chairs and the tableware.  Thanks Plet for letting me share your compilation of photos.  I do believe you have your own style of design and creativity….different from Martha Stewart 🙂

TWG Tea Brings Luxury Tea to the Philippines

By | Foodie, What's New at Rustan's | 2 Comments

TWG Tea, the world’s finest luxury tea brand, unveils an extraordinary new experience in the Philippines with the opening of its first Tea Salon & Boutique in Manila at the landmark Greenbelt 5 mall on November 8 followed by the opening of a second salon & boutique at Newport Mall Resorts World Manila on November 21. Since launching in 2007, Singapore-based TWG Tea has established itself internationally as a celebrated tea company with the largest collection of teas in the world, sourced directly and exclusively from the world’s most renowned tea plantations.

The Concept

A juxtaposition of past and present, the TWG Tea Salon & Boutique honours the important role that Singapore culture and the city’s glorious past has played along the tea route, by providing a modern and luxurious tea-drinking experience. The first TWG Tea location in Philippines at premier shopping destination Greenbelt mall is an elegant 128 sqm salon & boutique and an invitation to step into a world of grandeur, with hand crafted glass walls, bronze fittings, Italian marble floors, crystal lamps and antique mirrors.

 twg-announcement-01.JPG

The Tea Boutique

A nostalgic celebration of the voyage of the tea clippers, this timelessly chic wood-panelled TWG Tea Boutique, spiced with brass weighing scales and hard wood tea counters, is sure to carry customers away on a journey of sensations. The TWG Tea Boutique’s most impressive feature is the TWG Tea wall and rows of signature yellow artisan tea tins filled with more than 450 of the most celebrated fine harvest teas and exclusive tea blends in the world, all of which may be purchased by weight from 50 grams in sachets or perfectly accessorised in one of TWG Tea’s 45 bespoke tea tins.

 twg-announcement-02.JPG

Brightly coloured, whimsical packaged teas are aplenty, such as the Haute Couture Tea collection which features unique tea blends handcrafted by TWG Tea innovators according to the flavours of the season and packaged in designer hues that reflect the latest catwalk trends. Collection includes signature 1837 Black Tea and world favourite Silver Moon Tea, a blend of green teas accented with a grand berry and vanilla bouquet. Elegant tea tins, a myriad of hand-blown glass, porcelain, stoneware and cast iron teapots, fine bone china teacups, saucers, creamers and sugar bowls, as well as tea filters and tea scoops of all varieties can be found in the TWG Tea accessory collection.

The Tea Salon

The intimate Tea Salon, with its signature rattan-backed black velvet chairs and crisp white table linens, recall Singapore’s early days as a trading port. Featuring a savoury menu, gastronomes will be delighted by an exceptional dining experience with dishes carefully developed and infused with select TWG Teas, such as Foie Gras Terrine accompanied by toasted brioche and Sakura! Sakura! Tea jelly and Summer Quiche served with mixed greens tossed in 1837 Green Tea infused vinaigrette. Desserts are meticulously handcrafted daily and include specialty items such as TWG Tea’s signature tea-infused macarons and tea pastries served with TWG Tea jelly and whipped cream. Tea ice creams and sorbets such as Napoleon Tea ice cream and Silver Moon Tea sorbet, showcase TWG Tea blends in a delicious and novel manner.

TWG Tea Preparation

Tea offerings include unique harvests from the most prestigious gardens and renowned tea blends, prepared behind the bar according to TWG Tea’s exact specifications and meticulously served in signature TWG Tea Design Teapots & French Teapots, or iced in tall crystal stemware.

To the enchantment of amateurs, TWG Tea innovators have hand-blended Yin Zhen, or ‘silver needles’, the world’s rarest and finest variety of white tea, with a melange of wonderful fruits, flowers and spices to delight and tantalise the senses of tea-drinkers in the Philippines resulting in the marvellous White Earl Grey, a subtle combination of mythical bergamot – light, suave and refreshing – and leaves of imperial silver needles that lend sensuality and crystalline purity to this elegantly original white tea. TWG Tea recommends infusing these unique blends for 15 minutes in water heated to 70°C.

Team Bon Chon

By | Foodie, Great Achievements | 2 Comments

Heart2Heart loves Bon Chon!  So happy there are many branches in Makati nearby – Petron Dasma Station, Alpha Land and now here in Bonifacio High Street Central!

team-bon-chon-01.jpgteam-bon-chon-02.jpg

We arrived at 1130am and this is how it was but after 30 minutes the place was jam packed and with a long line outside the door!

team-bon-chon-03.jpg

James and I were so happy and honored to meet the very young, handsome and single 🙂  owner of Bon Chon!  Scott Tan!

He is only 30 years old and he runs almost 30 stores of Bon Chon in just two years!!  Amazing!!!  And he is working on many new projects which will hopefully be announced here too at H2H!  It was a Saturday and he told me that he has R & D meeting and food tasting in the afternoon after our lunch and he usually does his rounds to the stores on Saturdays!  No wonder he is so successful!

team-bon-chon-04.jpg

We ate so much that day!!  Bon Chon has expanded their menu into so many new food choices.  And Scott is very much involved in R&D.  He says that the mother company is not strict and that they can add whatever they want in the menu.  Which is perfect for him because he is very creative and innovative

team-bon-chon-05.jpgteam-bon-chon-06.jpg

Bulgogi was just a special offer at one time but because customers were requesting for it, they kept it on the menu

team-bon-chon-07.jpg

This is my favorite!! I asked him if he will venture into having other flavors like the other wings restaurants have, he said no, he will stick to the concept.  I was hoping for my garlic and parmesan wings 🙂

About BonChon International

BonChon, meaning “original village” in Korean, is a global restaurant/QSR brand that originated in South Korea in 2002.  It began making waves in the global arena in 2007 as it entered the US market, captivating the discerning palates of the citizens of New York, San Francisco, Boston,      Virginia, and New Jersey.  Its cult following propelled it to international shores, with stores in Asia (Bangkok, Manila, Jakarta, and Singapore) quickly following

“…  It isn’t merely today’s best chicken; It’s perfect, the best fried chicken I’ve ever had…”  –Esquire (US) magazine

“Reason to get excited about fast food again…” –GQ (US) magazine

“BonChon shines when the sun does: the garlic-and-soy wings are crispy and tangy,  while the spicier version has a subtle heat that sneaks up on you at about the third wing…” – New York Times

“The cult Korean wings spot… features exquisitely crispy fried chicken either sauced with a sweet-pungent soy garlic sauce, or spicy hot.”   — CNN

“… the food here is so superb…  you do get what you pay for and, in this case, you’re paying for perfection.”  — Yahoo

“So, in answer to the question, is BonChon’s chicken worth the hype?  The answer: yes – a resounding yes.” – Time Out (Dubai)

·      Menu profile:  Contemporary Asian/Korean-American QSR cuisine that highlights the super crispy yet light and non-greasy original Korean fried chicken secret.  While the chicken recipe is standard in all BonChon outlets worldwide, other items on the menu may vary from one country to another.  The Philippines offers the widest range among the international BonChon community.    As a testament to the wide range of the Philippine menu, many locally-developed recipes have found their way to internation BonChon stores.
