Rustan Supermarket organized a Wine and Cheese night last month

Chie Gatchalian gave a short talk on wines and wine pairing

wine-and-cheese-night-024.jpg36335_165595933579754_1421168421_n.jpg

1. Salty food- pair with full bodied, tannic wines (ex. Cabernet Sauvignon); salt in food softens tannins in wine

2. Fatty or fried food- pair with a dry, acidic white wine (ex Sauvignon Blanc); acid cuts through the grease lessening the “umay” factor

3. Savoury or Umami rich food- pair with a fruity wine (ex Beaujolais nouveau) to complement the “linamnam” in the food and not overpower it

4. Sweets/Desserts- pair with sweet wines to perfectly match it.

5. Mildly spicy food- good with sweet wines or juicy wines to counteract the spice (ex Riesling).

Of course, what else goes with wine, but Cheese! Yum 🙂

Breakfast by the Taj

By | Foodie, Travel | No Comments

Breakfast is included in the room charge and you go down to have the buffet.  But on our last day in Agra, I wanted to have breakfast in our balcony which we did not have time to use!  So we ordered room service which was also included already in the room.  You can have it in the room instead of down at the buffet

Beautiful view of the Taj before we say goodbye

breakfast-by-the-taj-04.jpgbreakfast-by-the-taj-05.jpg

We had hot food- omelette- which I forgot to take a photo of.  It is under the trolley in the food warmer

This was my personal favorite for the whole trip to India.  LOVED THE FOOD HERE!  The ceiling of the ITC Hotel hotel lobby.  Many Diplomats stay here in this hotel.  When we got there there were many security guards around the hotel

bhukara-01.jpgbhukara-02.jpg

Loved the ambience of the restaurant- look at the Chefs at the back looking at me taking their photo 🙂

bhukara-03.jpg

Bar tender made sure I took his photo too 🙂

bhukara-04.jpg

Right side of the restaurant

bhukara-05.jpg

Chefs are always happy there is a photo opportunity 🙂 The kitchen is circular so it encompasses both sides of the restaurant

bhukara-06.jpg

They took us inside the kitchen for a tour- they have us white coats and hairnets to use to be able to go inside

bhukara-014.jpg

WOW WOW WOW!! Love Love kebabs!

bhukara-015.jpgbhukara-016.jpg

Taipan at The Oberoi Delhi

By | Foodie, Travel | One Comment

After all the Indian food, we took a break and had Chinese food!  Everyone’s advice is just to eat in hotels, so that is what we did.  We went to The Oberoi

taipan-at-the-oberoi-delhi-01.jpgtaipan-at-the-oberoi-delhi-02.jpgtaipan-at-the-oberoi-delhi-026.jpgtaipan-at-the-oberoi-delhi-04.jpgtaipan-at-the-oberoi-delhi-03.jpg

Thank you to Tito Joe and Tita Mary Ann for the lunch treat 🙂  We are happy to be with them because they are always “game” to do anything and that goes for all the eating that we love to do!  And just like my parents, they are a very religious couple, hence the prayer before meals at all times 🙂

taipan-at-the-oberoi-delhi-011.jpgtaipan-at-the-oberoi-delhi-05.jpgtaipan-at-the-oberoi-delhi-06.jpgtaipan-at-the-oberoi-delhi-07.jpgtaipan-at-the-oberoi-delhi-08.jpgtaipan-at-the-oberoi-delhi-09.jpgtaipan-at-the-oberoi-delhi-010.jpgtaipan-at-the-oberoi-delhi-012.jpgtaipan-at-the-oberoi-delhi-013.jpgtaipan-at-the-oberoi-delhi-014.jpgtaipan-at-the-oberoi-delhi-015.jpgtaipan-at-the-oberoi-delhi-016.jpgtaipan-at-the-oberoi-delhi-017.jpgtaipan-at-the-oberoi-delhi-018.jpgtaipan-at-the-oberoi-delhi-019.jpgtaipan-at-the-oberoi-delhi-020.jpg

And they love desserts too! So most of the time we always have desserts even if we are all so full already 🙂
