Lills prepared a birthday lunch for our dear friend, Rachelle, since she knew she would not be able to make it to Rachelle’s birthday celebration.  It’s a good thing I joined because I could not make it as well!  Happy birthday to our dear friend, Rachelle

Kape Chino at Casa Roces

By | Foodie | 4 Comments

Mart and Sam had a great idea to have dinner at Casa Roces by Malacañang Palace.  Heart2Heart loves adventures and trying new places!

casa-roces-kape-chino-5.JPGcasa-roces-1.JPG

They have private dining rooms which were the rooms of the old house and converted to dining rooms.  I forgot to ask if they have a different menu for this area

casa-roces-2.JPGgalleria-roces-casa-roces.JPG

And they have Kape Chino on the ground floor

Mart and Sam, our dinner mates.   Thanks to Sam for introducing Pic Collage to me.  It’s the iPhone App I used to put together the photos from our dinner.  So this is my first Pic Collage entry.

I am waiting for this couple to tie the knot!!  C’mon guys!! 🙂

Mongolian with Bryan Flannery

Mom is really experimenting using Bryan Flannery beef

Bryan Flannery Shawarma and Beef Kebabs January 25, 2012

This time she used it for Mongolian barbecue!  WOW!!

mongolian-with-bryan-flannery-01.jpgmongolian-with-bryan-flannery-05.jpgmongolian-with-bryan-flannery-08.jpg

My only suggestion is not to put many sauces and toppings because you won’t get to appreciate anymore the bryan flannery beef. It gets masked with all the sauces and sidings

The discerning Filipino’s ultimate food source, Rustan’s Supermarketis taking its shoppers on yet another gastronomic journey—this time around the streets of Asia—with its anticipated Asian Street Food Invasion, running from July 1 to August 15 in all Rustan’s Supermarket Fresh branches.

 rustans-rockwell-asian-street-food-display.jpeg

In the tradition of the supermarket’s highly-successful food festival series over the years, Asian Street Food Invasion zooms in on the products and ingredients that make up the colorful street food offerings of Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia, thus bringing shoppers a multi-sensorial feast of flavors that allows them to experience an important part of such distinct cultures and lifestyles.

staff-of-asian-street-food-rustans.jpeg

Savor the uniqueness of Vietnamese street food, which completes the cultural experience of anyone longing for a taste of this featured country. Complete a virtual stroll along the streets of Vietnam, which are dotted with vendors and small cafes that specialize in a type of food or beverage; be it the famous Pho (traditional noodle soup and a staple in the Vietnamese diet), chilled young coconut milk, or Bun Cha (barbecued pork marinated in chili ginger and garlic), among many others.

Indulge in tasty Thai street cuisine and get to know this country’s one-of-a-kind culinary lifestyle, with its distinct bevy of food stalls transforming every major street corner, empty alley and lot into vibrant food bazaars. Recreate the dishes that made this country so popular from the comfort of your own home, such as Pad Thai (fried noodles with dried shrimp and tofu) and signature Thai curries.

Discover the crossroads of global cuisine with Singaporean street food, with this country serving as a melting pot of people from many nations. Unique to this food culture are its local hawker centers, which serve a mixture of Malay, Indian and Chinese specialties; and where the act of choosing the right food vendor to buy from is an art to be mastered.

asian-street-food-rustans-9.jpegasia-street-food-guests-rustans.jpegfood-asian-street-food-rustans.jpeg

Lastly, get to know Malaysian street fare a bit more, which similarly presents an eclectic mix of Malay, Chinese and Indian influences but is made truly its own by the culture that envelopes it: fiercely competitive vendors trying to earn your attention (and visit), an endless stretch of satay and fruit stalls and open air restaurants, and rickety (yet fully-occupied) plastic tables spilling out onto the streets.

Enjoy all these and more well-loved specialties from these Asian countries

Look for the best personal shoppers, Boy Samson and Malou

boy-samson-rustans.JPGmalou-rustans-rockwell.JPG

and dig into your favorite street food via live cooking demonstrations and a weekend Hawker’s Market at Rustan’s Supermarket Rockwell on July 14, Rustan’s Supermarket Shangri-La on July 28 and Rustan’s Supermarket Makati on August 11.

Grab a copy of our Asian Streetfood Invasion leaflet and enjoy shopping for local ingredients, food items and other products from these featured countries to help you prepare your own feast at home.
