Uncle Cheffy

By | Foodie | One Comment

Javs and I went to Titan at around 11am, since it was still closed, we decided to have lunch and right across it was Uncle Cheffy! We never heard of this place but the word Brick Oven Panizza called our attention and we went in to eat!

img_6860.JPGimg_6866.jpgimg_6867.JPG

I find their panizza a bit thicker than the panizza of C ( C Italian Deli and Wine Shop May 18, 2009 ) and Focaccia ( Focaccia August 20, 2008 ).  And when we first got it, I asked them to bake it some more

Of course Mother and son love cheese so we got the Cheese Cheese and Cheese Panizza 🙂  We shared this though we still could not finish it

img_6868.JPG

One thing different with their panizza is the filling – they have a tomato filling

JC purchased a boneless pork butt from James and he even showed us how he cooked it!

This is the cooker, a Grill Dome kamado,  that JC uses to cook the pulled pork and he keeps it overnight for 16 hours!  He even wakes up in the middle of the night to check it! JC is willing to cook pork butt for you for a fee 🙂  Please contact JC at 0917-7914593

Shi Lin

By | Foodie, Golden Spoon | One Comment

Of course the Xiao Long Bao loving family heard about Shi Lin, so last year, we went to try it!!

img_4241.jpgimg_4242.jpgimg_4256.JPGimg_4257.JPGimg_4258.JPGimg_4259.JPGimg_4260.jpg

We were surprised to find out that the place is owned by the Lorenzana family, the same owners of Office Warehouse!  Our cousin, Marga, is married to a Lorenzana ( Eugene )!

Previous Entry:  Dwell May 20, 2009

Eugene’s brother, Carlo and wife, Anna

We were lucky to get a table, we heard that the place is always full!!!! More during lunch time

img_4261.JPGimg_4255.jpgimg_4286.jpgimg_4262.JPGimg_4263.JPGimg_4264.JPG

That evening, we bumped into Tito Butch and Keith and Angela and kids!!  We came from the same school Christmas program and we had the same idea!!! And thanks to Tito Butch for treating us!!  and most especially for the company!

img_4281.JPG

If there is a Hainanese Chicken craze, there seems to be a xiao long bao craze going around as well!! The Xiao Long Bao is very very reasonable! P 108.00 for 6 pcs!! My 3 boys, the xiao long bao eaters, say that it is okay, not quite like Din Tai Fung in terms of size and soupyness, but it is OK already!  You cannot really compare because even the price is so much cheaper.  Though no one yet has the other variety my boys like – the pork and crab roe and for me the black truffles!! 🙂

img_4243.JPGimg_4245.JPGimg_4268.JPGimg_4288.JPGimg_4293.JPGimg_4295.JPGimg_4292.JPGimg_4303.JPGimg_4246.jpgimg_4272.JPGimg_4248.JPGimg_4275.JPGimg_4247.jpgimg_4274.JPGimg_4276.JPGimg_4280.JPGimg_4244.jpgimg_4279.JPGimg_4289.JPGimg_4250.jpgimg_4298.JPGimg_4302.JPG

After dinner, it was our turn to treat!!  We had our dessert on the ground floor of Podium and had GOLDEN SPOON!!!

Mamma’s Table by Vicky Tinio Clemente

By | Foodie, Travel | 13 Comments

There are so many good reasons to go to Baguio nowadays!

One of the highlights of our Baguio vacation was our dinner at the home of Vicky Clemente! I heard about her from our good friend, Lindy.  What a memorable experience!

We spent our New Year family celebration here and it was a great idea!

mammas-table1.jpgmammas-table3.jpgmammas-table2.jpgimg_6723.JPGmammas-table5.jpg

As we were early, we enjoyed the  Board of dips, pate and bread with our champagne

mammas-table4.jpgimg_6663.JPG

You can bring your own wine, which we actually preferred to do

mammas-table24.jpgimg_6727.JPGmammas-table8.jpg

Vicky says she has no menu when people ask, because it depends what is in season and what she sees in the market.  She also will not tell you your menu as she wants it to be a surprise!  Heart2Heart loves surprises!!  We all enjoyed our 8 course degustation!!

Amuse bouche, an intermezzo, Fish course, another intermezzo, meat course, followed by a digestif and then dessert for P 1,250.00 + service charge

mammas-table9.jpgmammas-table10.jpgmammas-table11.jpgmammas-table12.jpgmammas-table13.jpgmammas-table14.jpgmammas-table15.jpgmammas-table16.jpg

Vicky went to culinary school ten years ago in the States

mammas-table17.jpg

For kids there is a 5-course meal ( at P 250.00 / person ) so they can enjoy a similar experience plus marshmallows and mini hotdogs to roast in the fireplace.

Drivers and Yaya’s eat free!! 🙂 mammas-table10.jpgmammas-table18.jpgmammas-table19.jpgmammas-table20.jpgmammas-table21.jpgmammas-table23.jpgimg_6707.JPGimg_6829.JPGmammas-table7.jpgimg_6719.jpg

Eve’s Garden

By | Foodie, Green, Travel | 4 Comments

Thanks to Neng for telling us about this place!!!! Though it has been in existence for ten years already, we only heard about it now.   We all loved it!!  In the beginning they were complaining that it was a bit far, around 30 minutes from the city, but when we got there, we enjoyed it! It’s all about being able to experience something different, something unique, meeting different kinds of people, doing different kinds of things…. discovering.  I am so glad my family is adventurous because I am! 🙂

Mom and I loved the flowers on the gate

img_6017.JPG

So she asked me to take her photo with the gate! 🙂 My beautiful and fashionable mom!

img_6019.jpgimg_6020.JPGimg_6021.JPG

A nice and cozy place which can probably sit 20 people

img_6029.jpgimg_6132.jpgimg_6133.jpgimg_6128.JPGimg_6135.JPGimg_6041.JPG

Eve’s Garden has a set menu ( P 650.00 per person ) and she said it has been the same for the past 10 years!

img_6043.JPG

Salad Platter made of eight lettuce varieties served with carrots, turnips, walnuts and raisins and a ceasar type dressing made from organic flax oil, olive oil and sunflower oil prepared with seven fresh garden herbs

This was the highlight of our meal!!!  We were all amazed at this salad!  Heart2Heart took like 20 photos of this salad from all angles!!   The flowers are edible and we ate them!!  It was a big portion so we could not finish it ( except for my brother Quito 🙂 )

It’s a beautiful work of art just how it was prepared and made!!!!

 img_6053.JPGimg_6055.JPG

The dressing was really good, we all loved it.

img_6050.JPG

The server taught us how to eat the salad.  You have to get a lettuce and put the raisins, nuts, veggies inside

img_6056.JPG

Then dip it in the sauce and eat it!  YUM!

img_6075.jpgimg_6077.jpg

And we requested for a tour of her Green house where she grows all her lettuce!!
