The Piazza at Venice McKinley Hill

By | Foodie | No Comments

Another nice place in the Fort with many restaurants to choose from.  This is only one part of the piazza which is the inner part

img_8752.JPG

The Piazza is the first phase of the Venetian Mall, a three-hectare retail promenade within the center of the development. It occupies five hectares of the entire commercial complex.

It is part of the “Play” component of the Mc Kinley Hill Development of Megaworld Corporation in Fort Bonifacio. It targets the residents, condominiums at the residential block, companies and their employees, embassies, and schools, in the vicinity.

It is the heart and soul of “Play” at Mc Kinley Hill.

img_8664.JPG

The overall look was patterned after Venice, one of the most picturesque cities in Italy. Like the City of Venice, the Piazza emits a postcard beauty and relaxing appeal, lined up with the best restaurants and service stores.

Celebrating the Year of the Metal Rabbit

By | Celebrations, Foodie | One Comment

This is how we celebrated Chinese New Year!  There is always something to celebrate when it’s Mom!  Though this was Tita Margarita’s idea! It was potluck and each of them brought something to share for dinner.  How nice and fun!

metalrabbitchinese1.jpg

Everyone was game and came in Chinese outfits! Loved Tita Eva’s headpiece 🙂

metalrabbitchinese2.jpgmetalrabbitchinese3.jpg

And Tita Margarita, the organizer of the dinner, came with a rabbit hanging on her neck.  She is the funniest!

metalrabbitchinese4.jpg

Dad and his two concubines beside him 🙂  And of course my two feng shui mates- Margs and Pam!

And Tita Margarita even prepared a beautiful message!  Watch the video and listen 🙂

Mom of course prepared the beautiful decorations and setting for the dinner

Burrito Night by JC

By | Foodie | No Comments

Another great foodie night with JC!!! I like how he prepares his dinners.  If it’s burritos, it’s just burritos!   I can actually concentrate and enjoy the main dish!  🙂

Previous Entry:  Pulled Pork Sandwich by JC Bernardo January 11, 2011

img_0955.jpgimg_0969.JPG

Lucky foodie friends were also there to enjoy the food- Jinggoy, Carlo, Kat and of course JC’s wife, Fay!

jcburritonight4.jpg

JC always makes it sound and look so easy – but I bet it is not!

img_0960.JPG

Tomato salsa,  quesong puti, grated cheddar cheese, guacamole, chili and sour cream, onions and peppers, burrito rice, pita bread, Vande Rose pork butt made into pulled pork and Bryan Flannery skirt steak!  IT WAS SOOOO GOOD!!!!

img_0966.JPGjcburritonight1.jpgjcburritonight2.jpgimg_0973a.JPGimg_0938.JPG

I forgot already whose burrito belongs to who but these were our creations 🙂

img_0962.jpgimg_0967.JPGimg_0972.JPGimg_0974.jpgimg_0976.JPG

Yummy buko sherbet!!!! Reminds me of the one from Thailand, so creamy and full of buko!  Will feature this separately!

Papa Johns

By | Foodie | No Comments

Quits and I went to try the pizza at Papa Johns at the Veranda at Robinson’s Galleria.  It’s only a few steps away from Golden Spoon and Starbucks.  I see this in the States but never got to try it

img_8192.JPGimg_8194.JPGimg_8195.JPGimg_8196.JPGimg_8197.jpg

Quits treated me and we both loved it!

img_8207.JPGimg_8208.JPG

Mexican Ole which Quits chose and we both liked it! The crust is so crunchy and good!

img_8211.JPG

I got this CHEESE STICKS – it’s actually shaped like a pizza also so I guess it’s a cheese pizza 🙂 It comes with a garlic dipping sauce which was really good!! The Mexican Ole also came with the garlic sauce.  Yum!

Chef Javs Part 2

By | Foodie, For kids | 5 Comments

It’s been almost a year since Heart2Heart featured Chef Javs.

Previous Entry:  Chef Javs Feb 27, 2010

Mommy Heart2Heart is happy to know that Chef Javs is still wanting to be a chef a year after 🙂  and now he is even more passionate as he turns eleven years old today.  Happy Birthday to our little chef!  Thank you to Daddy for supplying the ingredients for Chef Javs! We will encourage him and support him in whatever he wants to be!

 chefjavsphotoaaa.jpg

After Chef Javs made his Queso de Onion which he cooked for a few friends and family, he has been asking me to promote it and sell it for him in Heart2Heart 🙂

Previous entry:  Cookies for Santa Dec. 26, 2010

Mommy keeps telling Chef Javs to go to cooking school to learn first …meantime, Chef Javs has been making many other inventions and learning on his own from the internet and from his cookbooks.  It’s quite difficult to know when he will be making something so the photos are sometimes too late or taken from a cellphone ( so bear with them ).  What amazes me most is the way he explains to us how he makes each dish.  And it seems he is learning more and more everyday 🙂

Va Bene Pasta Deli

By | Foodie | 4 Comments

James and I were so happy to discover this new restaurant.  It opened late last year but we only noticed it recently, maybe because they had just renovated the Petron in Dasma and somehow it seems brighter now.

img_7165.JPGimg_7140.JPGimg_7145.JPGimg_7142.JPGimg_7143.JPG

And we met the owner and chef, Massimo! He looked so familiar, then we found out he was the chef of Mi Piace at the Peninsula Hotel!  And now he is on his own.  More power to you Massimo!!

img_7149.jpg

The menu is short and simple but everything looked so good

img_7147.jpgimg_7146.jpgimg_7151.JPG

I loved my salad Insalata Dello Chef.  YUM!

img_7153.JPG

Pizza Altaglio ( Square pizza ) – Massimo told us that this is Italy’s version of fastfood pizza by the slice sold in the streets

img_7155.JPG

First time for us to see pasta served this way!  And it was very very good!  He makes his pastas fresh and that is their specialty.  You can peep through the kitchen and watch them make the pasta!! We are looking forward to trying the other pastas!

img_7157.JPGimg_7159.JPG

Seafood Marinara Tagliollini – James loves seafood pasta and this was perfect for him and we liked the black pasta noodles

img_7161.JPGva-bene06.jpg

img_7141.jpg

Semifredo orange with chocolate sauce

img_7163.JPG

He sells some Italian items in the restaurant as well so you can take them home
