The Biggest Bangus and Tilapia

By | Foodie, Recipes | No Comments

My friend Bambi is always so thoughtful!  She always shares and sends me her favourite foods and finds 🙂  On her birthday, she even went to the house to drop off some fresh bangus and tilapia which she received as a birthday gift!!  She even shared with me her birthday gift!

bangus-tilapia-1.jpg

And look how gigantic the bangus and tilapia are!!! I have never ever seen a bangus or tilapia as big as this big in my life!bangus-tilapia-2.jpeg

And here it is- I wanted to show how big the bangus was so I included Rissy in the photo 🙂 It’s even wider than her body 🙂  I just followed Bambi’s instructions and we marinated it as daing na bangus with vinegar, black pepper and garlic then fried it.  It’s the frying that is challenging because you need a really big frying pan to fry this gigantic creature 🙂

bangus-tilapia-3.jpeg

I shared one with my good friend Janet and this is how she did hers

bangus-tilapia-4.JPG

How nice!!!! As usual!

This time the tilapiabangus-tilapia-6.jpgMarinated in Patis, calamansi and pepper then before steaming put butter in the head and in the inside of the fish

Suharto and Rina got one too and this is what they did with it.  They said they put brandy, black pepper and olives

Dad and Mom got one too and this is what the cook made 🙂  Sweet and Sour bangus 🙂

Modern Sichuan

By | Foodie | No Comments

We discovered a Chinese restaurant through our friend, Sonny and Natalie!!  The exterior may not tell much about the place so don’t be deceived

We came to celebrate Sonny’s birthday.  We love this couple – Sonny and Natalie

We stayed in a private room since we were 14

modern-sichuan-6.JPG

The peanuts were so good!!!

modern-sichuan-7.JPG

While waiting I looked at the codigo of the waiter to see what we were having.  Apparently almost everything is not in the menu except for the Taro Duck.  We super duper enjoyed this meal!!!!

La Creperie Now in Makati

By | Foodie | No Comments

On the other side of the building, V Corporate Center, there’s La Creperie.  We transferred from Wild Flour to here to have desert.

My friend, PK Chuatico, is right!  This area is becoming like Chelsea with all the quaint restaurants opening around the village

la-creperie-now-in-makati-1.jpg

I always like the interiors of La Creperie and not one is the same!  Each branch has its own look  🙂

Dinner with Gilbert and Nikki

By | Celebrations, Foodie | No Comments

We were so happy to be with Gilbert and Nikki in their lovely home 🙂  Here are the boys in the kitchen

gilbert-makes-sangria.JPG

Apparently Gilbert likes to cook!!!  Heart2Heart loves it!!

dinner-with-gilbert-and-nikki-1.JPG

That night he made sangria for us.  I hope we can taste more of his cooking 🙂  Hint hint Gilbert 🙂

dinner-with-gilbert-and-nikki-2.JPG

My favourite part of the house!!  Gibert’s shelves of books!!  This is just one side.  Right across it is another shelf full with the same amount of books as this.  This does not count the other books he has in his mom’s house and the cookbooks he has in his kitchen.  Since high school, Gilbert loved reading books and he now has thousand of books in his collection.  He has read some of then over and over again.

He told me that he sleeps very early and wakes up at around 2 am to read books and then he goes back to sleep again.  And he does not read just one book, he reads three.  He switches among the three books so he doesn’t get bored.  No wonder he is so smart!!

library-gilbert-teodoro.JPG

We had a nice dinner, not in the main dining but in another part of the house which has this beautiful Asian backdrop!  LOVE!!

dinner-with-gilbert-and-nikki-3.JPG

I am so lucky my seat mate was Gilbert!!  Enjoyed chatting with him and I was taking a lot of notes on restaurant recommendations here and in London.  I love how passionate he is when he talks about restaurants and what’s good in each of them 🙂 i need more time to pick his brain!! 🙂

dinner-with-gilbert-and-nikki-4.jpg

Of course beautiful Nikki was there together with the ever lovely Vicky Pimentel of Cucina Victoria and an ex- Rustan’s manager/designer. I love this lady a lot. We used to work together before and no matter what, she was always very professional and she did her job well.  She was the mommy of the younger managers in the office

dinner-with-gilbert-and-nikki-11.JPG

This came when we were already finished eating and I wish Gilbert brought it out earlier!!  His own homemade dish, Sinantolan.  Gilbert told me that his friend’s mom used to cook this and he liked it but when they moved out of the country he had to learn how to make it himself and he got it in two trys 🙂  YUMMY!

dinner-with-gilbert-and-nikki-12.JPG

The new member of their family, Brando.  Gilbert got him for Nikki to protect her, but look how sweet and harmless he is!!!  So cute!! 🙂  but gigantic 🙂
