I was fortunate to have been there for the grand opening and was able to sample some of the dishes.  My favorite is the signature buko pie! 🙂

Mike’s Birthday Celebration

By | Celebrations, Foodie | No Comments

This is a two month delayed post!!  But better late than never! 🙂  Happy Birthday to our big brother Mike!!  WE LOVE YOU! 🙂

We had food all from the kitchen of Yuan Ongpin!  The Paella guy!  He not only makes paella but other dishes as well!   For orders +63 917 500 5355 or email vongole68@gmail.com

We all loved the paella especially the birthday boy!  He says it is the BEST and OOZING WITH FLAVOR ! 🙂

These were not from Yuan 🙂  This is Chinese food from Century Park Hotel

A special birthday cake from their friend, Jean Marie,  She is the # 4 wife of Lucio Tan ( no intention to make chismis 🙂 ) You cannot buy this cake because she has it made by the baker of their hotel, Century Park Hotel.  So you can only have this if you know her and she gives it to you! 🙂  They don’t make it to sell because it will come out expense since they use the best ingredients which includes Belgian Chocolate.  It’s really good.  Even tasted better because you know you cannot have it! 🙂

Skyping with the rest of the family who were out of the country at that time.  Greeting Mike for his birthday!!

Bornga

By | Foodie | One Comment

We tried a new Korean restaurant, Bornga, in Alphaland Makati Place! Thanks to Mike and Gloria and Mykie for the recommendation

Our waiter came with this long tray of veggies.  Free refill !

Free refill as well for all these appetisers except for the egg roll which is still complimentary but not refillable 🙂

I love these robotic looking exhaust pipes which I see in Korea and Japan. You can move it up, down, sideways and all ways 🙂

 borna-exhaust.JPG

The specialty at Bornga is Woo Samgyup – thinly sliced beef brisket with Bornga’s special sauce

Two ways to eat Woo Samgyup which explains all those veggies.  Third way which I invented is with rice 🙂

Yummy Chapchae

Cold Ginger tea which they give complimentary at the end but Mike said to ask for it in the beginning.  Good tip 🙂  So refreshing 🙂

Pinoy Style Cheese Pimento by Nicole Ortega

By | Cheese, Foodie | 3 Comments

A few weeks ago, I met a young, pretty and nice person, Nicole Ortega.  She was with her kids, Natalia and Julio,  who look just like her siblings.  Watch out for her as she will be starting her blog sometime in October with plenty tips and inspirations for women

nicole-ortega-and-kids.jpg

She told me she would be also sharing some recipes in her new blog and mentioned to me that she also makes cheese pimento that is a favourite of her friends and family.  She sent me one and wow! YUMMY 🙂  I asked her why she calls it Pinoy style and she said ” I say Pinoy style because it’s mainly a Pinoy fave but there are many gourmet versions now like four cheese or quezo de bola.  Mine is the one we all had growing up.  Slightly sweet, umami and creamy.  I don’t put any preservatives and all made fresh.  Warning:  Don’t eat with pandesal, hard to stop! ”  🙂  For orders, call Nicole at 0917-537-2209 or Duo 2157601
