Malatapay Wednesday Market

By | Foodie, Proud to be Pinoy!, Travel | One Comment

Sandra recommended we go to the Malatapay Market which happens only on Wednesday.  She knows we like to eat 🙂  So we made sure we were in the area on a Wednesday to see what this is all about and experience it.  It is around 30 minutes aways from Dumaguete and in the town of Malatapay

It’s a street with stalls selling fresh seafood and others but mainly seafood

You can buy the seafood and have it cooked in one of the restaurant stalls

Shark :-O

They also trade livestock.  This carabao has been sold already to this new owner

More livestock in that truck

Other items being sold

A must in the market!  Lechon!  I saw two stalls there and they were fully sold out

This was where we ate.  We could not really shop for our seafood because it started to rain so we just ordered our food from this restaurant

Our table 🙂  with a tarpaulin as our table cover

Utensils were in a bowl with hot water

Puso rice which is wrapped and boiled in woven coconut leaves. It is known as hanging rice since they hang it 🙂  It’s very dense rice and is a Cebuano creation

It already has a split in the middle you just open it up 🙂

Sauce 🙂

Kinilaw na Tanguige

 Lechon

Fish

Tinola

I saw this across our table 🙂 Blindmen serenading 🙂

Our bill for 10 people

We went to Apo Island then came back and on the way home this was how the market looked like 🙂

The souvenir shop was still opened

Ramen Nagi Opens It’s 3rd Branch in SM North Edsa

By | Foodie | One Comment

Congratulations to Ramen Nagi on the opening of their 3rd branch which is in SM North Edsa!  They just opened their first branch last December in SM Aura then their second in Mall of Asia.  Soon they will open their 4th branch in Robinson’s Magnolia and in December in Greenbelt 3

Congratulations to the successful partners of Ramen Nagi!!  Paolo Pineda, Roxanne and Ericson Farillas, Avi Chua and Mike Kho

Everytime they open a branch, Ramen Nagi gives them a Daruma for good luck.  They colour one eye during the opening and colour the other eye when they reach their targets.  I am sure those eyes are coloured in a short period of time 🙂

If there is one thing I have in common with Senator Sonny Angara, it’s our kids love for Ramen Nagi.  It’s an honour to have cut the ribbon with him and for a successful restaurant

My Ramen boys of course had their ramen fix 🙂

I am so happy that there are many side dishes to choose from.  We tried 4 and they were all good!!

Chicken Karaage

Gyoza

Chasu Rice

Nagi Star Ramen Salad

Il Ponti was known for their night time bar and entertainment.  According to Steve, they are still polishing this for now but they have a beautiful bar lounge which can be used for private events as well

Chubby Chicks

By | Foodie | One Comment

I went to Pergola mall in BF Homes to check out my friend’s stall called Chubby Chicks 🙂  Chef Maj Lazatin of The Glass Door

Previous entry: The Glass Door by Maj Lazatin Imperial April 3, 2014

owns this with some of her friends.  It’s right outside Japan Home Center on the ground floor

Interesting concept, stuffed chicken wings 🙂

The problem with eating alone is you only get to try a few 🙂  I got 2 pcs. -the Chubby Chicks Special which has mashed potato, bacon and cheese and the Mushy Chicks which has shiitake mushrooms and cheese.  Obviously I love cheese 🙂  And these are the two bestsellers according to the sales staff.  I got 2 dips – blue cheese and garlic mayo plus a side of garlic fries

Here’s a close up of the two chicken wings.  I like them both 🙂  Hope they open in Makati!!

BF Homes Bucket List

By | Foodie | No Comments

There are so many restaurants in BF Homes opening and closing left and right.  Here are a few that are still on my bucket list.  I went there last month and I just passed by them – recommended by my friends who live in the area, Tita Thelma and Ned and Janet

Don Limone I heard has very good cheesecake

bf-homes-bucket-list1.pngbf-homes-bucket-list2.jpg

Ramen Kuroda

bf-homes-bucket-list3.jpgbf-homes-bucket-list4.JPG

Which has very reasonable Ramen Set Menus.  I need to bring the Ramen boys to taste it

bf-homes-bucket-list5.jpgbf-homes-bucket-list6.jpgbf-homes-bucket-list7.jpg

Another new Ramen place

bf-homes-bucket-list8.pngbf-homes-bucket-list9.JPGbf-homes-bucket-list10.pngbf-homes-bucket-list11.JPG

Bi won Korean restaurant

bf-homes-bucket-list12.JPG

In President Avenue, Tito Chef

bf-homes-bucket-list13.JPG

While driving down President Avenue I saw this!  I took a photo and realized later on how cheap it is since garlic is very expensive already now at around P 375.00 a kilo.   I bought 5 pcs. for P 77.00 so I remembered this photo and asked my friend Ned to get me some.  Apparently these garlic are already yellow – I don’t know if over ripe is the correct term.  Though you can probably still use it, it is not the fresh white garlic

bf-homes-bucket-list15.JPG

The words Farm and Healthy always catches my attention- wondering if this is good
