In the palacio of the bodega
Previous entry: Bodega del Palacio de Fefinianes December 17, 2013
we had a private lunch in the beautiful dining room
overlooking the vineyard
The lunch was prepared by a One Star Michelin Chef, Yayo Daporta
We really enjoyed our lunch!!!
Yayo Daporta has a restaurant in Cambados. It was arranged with the bodega for him to come over and cater. Click below for more information

From Santiago, we moved on towards our last stop at Baiona. On the way, we passed by a Bodega from the 17th century
The owner was there
They took us on a tour of the bodega

If you go to Santiago, I highly recommend this place!!!! It is by the fresh market very near the cathedral. There are two areas- the bar ( Taberna ) with communal seating
and the restaurant ( Galphon )
We chose the restaurant 🙂 We always want a quiet and stress free place to eat. I love this cozy place!!
That’s us 🙂 We reserved in advance as always to make sure we get a place. It is also always good to be ahead so you do not join the rest of the people who are dining. After a few minutes the place was full
Love the coasters!!
I liked the stone liners they were using
The chefs that prepared our lunch
35 Euros for all that we had! WORTH IT!
A super meal!! We really enjoyed!!

We had merienda in Valor
It’s a different texture of churros but still very good
I wanted to try this Cuatro Sentidos since there was white chocolate. It was okay, I would still prefer the usual chocolate
The rest of the menu which looks so good!!!

Our main purpose was to visit the cathedral and that is what we did first thing the next day. There were many people inside so we quickly went through it and we were able to join a mass since it was a Sunday
Santiago means Saint James 🙂 and this is where the relics of Saint James are kept
I made sure i took a photo of James with St. James in the main altar. You can go up and touch the status of St. James. I was quite far from the altar so the zoom photo did not come out that clear – but that is James with St. James 🙂

A few months before our trip, we watched the movie, THE WAY. It’s a beautiful movie! Though we did not plan to walk the Camino, I hope to do the pilgrimage one of these days with a group of friends

I heard about the Camino several years ago from my friend, Rina, who did a 150 km pilgrimage with a group of female friends for 7 days

And we arrive in Santiago! It’s a different feeling to be in a place of God, a place filled with love! Our hotel which is a Parador is right in the plaza where the Cathedral is and it is beautiful!
You will feel the love and the passion from all the pilgrims that travelled the camino
and come here to end their journey
We had dinner in the restaurant of the hotel upon arrival and it was very good and very reasonably priced even if it was in the hotel
Breakfast buffet was also very good with a wide selection
What is important to me is the cereal section and the churros 🙂

Leaving from Oviedo on the way to Santiago, we had lunch in La Maquina
I don’t really eat Fabada but the white asparagus were so good!!
Fabada, their specialty, which everyone enjoyed!
And wow, the BEST Arroz con leche I have ever tried!
In the parking lot, an interesting wall made out of wine bottles!
