Ralos Cassava Cake

By | Proud to be Pinoy!, Travel, Yummy! | 4 Comments

On the way to Tagaytay, Roselen told me about this Cassava place by the Sta. Rosa exit. You have to really watch out for it or else you will miss it. It’s on the left side of the road if you are going towards Tagaytay

Bought some!

We did not get to eat it right away – maybe a week after!

We just heated it in the microwave for a few seconds and wow! SO YUMMY!!!

I heated another one with grated parmesan cheese – EVEN MORE YUMMY!!!!

Kawayan Cove Beach House by Gil Coscolluela

By | Homes and Interiors, Travel | No Comments

To be a member of the Beach Club, you have to be a resident of Kawayan Cove.  Our good friend Gil did such a great job in building this beautiful home for Larry and Roselen !!

It’s a three story house

Main floor are the rooms

Master bedroom with a beautiful bed – Voyage by Kenneth Cobonpue

Girls room

Guest room

Boys room

Going down

Living room which is a mixture of modern and old.  Lolah Chair by Kenneth Cobonpue and a sala set which Roselen got from Larry’s grandparents- she just repainted themdsc_3891.JPG

I really liked the wooden Filipiniana dining table which is also a hand me down

View from the dining room – I told Roselen to remove those trees so you can see the beach 🙂  Behind those trees is the beach.  You can hear the sound of the water

Looking down at the garden

Going down to the garden level

Nice!!  This is the bigger set of the furniture handed down to them by Larry’s grandmother

The view of the house from the garden – beautiful architecture!!!

Bamboo Beach Club Kawayan Cove

By | Travel | No Comments

I was so happy to join the boys in their summer outing!  Thank you Roselen for organizing this.  I wish we could do this more often.

In Kawayan Cove, they have a shuttle that picks you up from your house to bring you to the Beach Club

This is the reason why its better to take the shuttle, it’s steep going downhill

 Here we are!

bamboo-beach-club-kawayan-cove-4.JPG

It was a weekday and we had the whole beach all to ourselves!!! BLESSING!!!!  That day, it was our private beach!

To the left

To the right

The boys!

Roselen tanning as soon as we got there and watching the kids swim in the beach

The waves were so strong the kids were having a blast jumping on thembamboo-beach-club-kawayan-cove-23.JPG

Scouting the place – the dining area

We wanted to have a massage so we went to the spa to check it out

It’s a Bahay Kubo!  An old one 🙂

You can hang out here

 bamboo-beach-club-kawayan-cove-18.JPG

or use one of the rooms for massage

But Wendy had her massage by the beach instead – good idea!

Lunch time 🙂

Wendy and Roselen ordering our food

Going back we passed the “tunnel route”!  Which is actually the scenic route – instead of going back through Tagaytay – this goes towards Pico del Oro and further down – the view is actually very nice! Supposedly a quicker way to go home to avoid the traffic.  You pass Cavitex and get out in Roxas boulevard.

The tunnel!

A very short tunnel 🙂

This must be the tunnel President Aquino mentioned that took so long to open – and they had just opened this a few days and we used it soon after

Gourmet Garage now has a new chef – Chef Booj! Our family loves Chef Booj ever since we met hi in Eskaya in Bohol, then when he was a partner with Chef Ed Quimson in M catering

Japan Town San Francisco

By | Foodie, Travel | No Comments

This entry got left behind in the San Francisco series.  But this is an important part of our trip especially if Dad and Mom are with us.  They are always nostalgic when we are in SF and they like to visit all their old spots 🙂  We used to live across Japan town and so this became our hang out too as kids.  It’s still the same from long ago with some few stores that have changed.  It’s looking a bit old but it is clean and has many choices of Asian restaurants and quaint boutiques selling Japanese and other Asia items

It’s quite a big complex

We head down to restaurant row to have our lunch

Lunch at this place where Dad and Mom used to always eat in.  We are reminiscing 🙂

After lunch a little window shopping

Funny 🙂

All scents!

Dad shopping for his incense

And my favorite is now here! 🙂
