Sky Lanterns

By | Today's Quote, Travel | No Comments

On our last night at Aman, we all released paper lanterns with our wishes.  We did this by the beach beside our dinner table.  Jigger was the first to release his lantern

We looked at the news the next day and apparently that same night in Ilo Ilo they were releasing lanterns too and they made it to the Guiness Book of World Records with the most number of paper lanterns

Grotto and Garden Cave

By | Nature, Travel | No Comments

The next day I wanted to go back to the path to the Lagoon restaurant since I saw a grotto and a cave.  I was scared to go at night 🙂 Hmmm…looks like someone is setting up for a BBQ

The Grotto

Which has a small chapel

Pathway leading to the grotto

and to the beach

Then the island cave

Looks like a romantic dinner set up by the Island cave 🙂

It was lighted at night so maybe its nicer at night

Wow how romantic! 🙂

On the way back to the villa we saw this guy trying to catch something

Sea urchin for our dinner!! 🙂

The Lagoon Vietnamese Restaurant Amanpulo

By | Foodie, Travel | No Comments

Jerome treated us to dinner at the vietnamese restaurant nearby the Villa.  Thank you Jerome!!

Though I was hoping we could have Villa meals, I was happy we went to The Lagoon and so we saw Emily and Josh! 🙂

We had a healthy dinner with mostly vegetable dishes and seafood.  I did not monitor anymore as I was too intent on trying to figure out how I could take a photo of Emily and Josh! 🙂

Picnic Grove at Amanpulo

By | Foodie, Travel | No Comments

Though I love eating at the villa and having Chef Miguel’s cooking, It was nice to discover the other food choices at the resort.  We went to the picnic grove for lunch

Another pathway which I loved!!

A National Geographic Moment at Amanpulo

By | Animals and Pets, Travel | 2 Comments

I am always looking for a National Geographic Moment since it’s quite rare to capture one. The last one was in 2008 in Bohol

Previous entry:  A National Geographic Moment January 6, 2008

While walking the perimeter of the island, I could see from afar little things crawling on the edge of the beach.  It’s a good thing I had zoom lens to see what they were – because they were quite sensitive, as we move closer to them- they move too.  This is dedicated again to my Dad and it’s his birthday today!  I am sure my Daddy would like to see these moments too after all it’s where I get my love for animals and nature

national-geographic-moment-at-amanpulo-5.JPGnational-geographic-moment-at-amanpulo-2.JPG

Crabs!  Not the small transluscent ones but quite big.  They don’t look too big in my photo because I could not go to near or else they will disappear or move away. I was very careful

Zooming in some more

national-geographic-moment-at-amanpulo-9.JPGnational-geographic-moment-at-amanpulo-10.JPG

They are moving away as we go closer – some went up towards the greens

national-geographic-moment-at-amanpulo-11.JPGnational-geographic-moment-at-amanpulo-12.JPGnational-geographic-moment-at-amanpulo-13.JPGnational-geographic-moment-at-amanpulo-14.JPG

here they are going higher up opposite the water

national-geographic-moment-at-amanpulo-15.JPGnational-geographic-moment-at-amanpulo-16.JPG

the small ones are also there

 national-geographic-moment-at-amanpulo-17.JPG

The others hid already which explains the big holes

 national-geographic-moment-at-amanpulo-18.JPG

As we go towards the tip of the island they are moving away further

Around the island there are also some avian species.  The resort gives you postcards which you can collect

I spotted a few around the resort but cannot identify

Touring the Perimeter of Amanpulo

By | Travel | No Comments

After that heavy lunch, I asked James to take a different tour of the island.  The perimeter of the island is around 6 kilometers.  So we decided to do half! haha!!  So we walked through this secret passage from the Villa

touring-the-perimeter-of-the-island-1.JPG

and leads you to another world called paradise 🙂 I would not say it has the same white and powdery sand as Boracay but it is a beautiful island – a peaceful one.  For that brief moment, you have it to yourself to look at and savor

touring-the-perimeter-of-the-island-2.JPGdsc_8622.JPG

Starfish 🙂

touring-the-perimeter-of-the-island-3.JPG

There’s a bunch of these near the shore so you have to go further for clearer water – which I am afraid to do 🙂

touring-the-perimeter-of-the-island-4.JPG

Peace and quiet- I just like to look at this

touring-the-perimeter-of-the-island-5.JPG

Behind those greens are villas but from the shore you cannot see anything except maybe the tip of the villa

touring-the-perimeter-of-the-island-6.JPG

It’s a bit harder to walk the beach because your feet sink into the sand so I am justifying eating all that food and making this my exercise 🙂

 touring-the-perimeter-of-the-island-7.JPG

Our shadow -it was just us

touring-the-perimeter-of-the-island-8.JPG

Proof that we walked that whole stretch

touring-the-perimeter-of-the-island-9.jpgtouring-the-perimeter-of-the-island-10.JPG

Footprints on the sand 🙂

touring-the-perimeter-of-the-island-11.jpgtouring-the-perimeter-of-the-island-12.JPG

Turning to the right going to the main beach

touring-the-perimeter-of-the-island-13.JPG

There was a sand bar!

touring-the-perimeter-of-the-island-14.JPG

A few people were walking the sandbar

Towards the clubhouse

touring-the-perimeter-of-the-island-19.JPG

There are more people on this side of the beach but still not many –

touring-the-perimeter-of-the-island-20.JPGtouring-the-perimeter-of-the-island-21.JPG

This we are guessing is an entrance from a casita – so the Casitas have access to the main beach

touring-the-perimeter-of-the-island-22.JPG

Moving closer to the clubhouse – kids playing

Another casita

Another casita

Halfway we are at the clubhouse- an hour’s leisurely walk halfway around the island

Almost dark
