Mom’s Adobo

By | Travel, Yummy! | No Comments

As I was trying to be a good mom to my kids for a week during our vacation, staying in a house without any household staff, I realised that it is a very very tough job!  And just when I needed help, my Mom arrives!!!! What a relief!! I was not the only one happy, but the kids were crying with joy! haha!!  As soon as Mom arrived, we all went to the supermarket and one of the recipes Mom/Lola always cooks for us when we are travelling is adobo!

She knows that we will all get hungry at some point and if there is adobo – it’s easy to heat and eat!   You can keep it and it tastes better as it gets older and we all love her adobo which she learned from her mom!

YUMMY!!!

This trip I am happy that an old friend, Gretchen contacted me! I have not seen her in ages!  Apparently she has been living in the Bay area for several years already.  She is still the same and still pretty 🙂

She took us to a Burmese restaurant in Burlingame.  It’s a good thing we had an early dinner because once we sat down- there was already a line outside the door

Sweet Basil Foster City

By | Foodie, Travel | No Comments

Of course my trip is not complete without seeing my good friend, Triccie!

I always request for her to take me to a new place all the time.  So this time she took us to a Thai place in Foster city

Many of the staff are Filipinos.  Here is our waitress who knows Triccie already.  She was hiding, she said she wanted to fix herself up first before I take her photo 🙂

So pretty these daughters of Triccie!! I wanted my two boys to meet them 🙂

Fresh salad rolls

WINGS OF LOVE!!!! 🙂  Cute and funny name – but I love it!  They probably named it for me 🙂  Their version of buffalo wings.  YUMMY!

Cheesy Garlic Bread

By | Cheese, Recipes, Travel, Yummy! | No Comments

Heart2Heart was so happy to be back at the Fish Market to have the BEST Cheesy Garlic Bread!!

Previous entry:  Visiting Triccie and Dinner at the Fish Market October 18, 2013

You can order just the spread and take it home and make your own.  Too bad it is not bottled so I can bring it back all the way home to the Philippines

We went on a Wednesday so we did not get US$ 1 oysters but we still ordered some.  Every Monday and Tuesday they have $1.00 oysters

Clam Chowder

Lobster Ciopino

Found some recipes online. I have not tried the recipe but I wanted to check the ingredients.  I knew it, I tasted some mayonnaise on it – which is one reason probably why it’s so so good!!

Home Cooked Dinner by Chef Javs

By | Foodie, Travel | No Comments

After all that spending and eating!  I told the boys that we have to save and cook at home!  🙂  Chef Javs of course was happy with the idea.  James suggested we go to Draeger’s

Which after all cost just as much as eating out! haha! But it was nice to have home cooked food for a change especially by our very own chef.  Not to mention that we have to clean up after the chef cooks because he is already tired after cooking! 🙂

Wow, this bone marrow was so expensive US$ 20.00 for this!

Oops, Chef Javs forgot to have it sliced by the butcher.  So we had to reach far inside to get the marrow 🙂

Humphry Slocombe Ice Cream

By | Travel, Yummy! | No Comments

The eating was not yet over for that Sunday in the City!  The GOURMET son was not yet satisfied with his ice cream and he had to go to the place which he researched – he read about the foie gras ice cream! 🙂

So we drove to one more stop before going back home and we went to Humphry Slocombe.  There was a line but not a long one.  I think it is also the location – it was not in a commercial area unlike Bi Rite

Very gourmet indeed and very non traditional – I love non traditional!

One of their best sellers – they change their flavors daily but there are flavors that are there everyday because they are really sought after like SECRET BREAKFAST!  Jaime ordered that one and really liked it.  What a unique flavor and very refreshing though it has liquor, So not too much 🙂

Bi Rite Homemade Ice Cream

By | Travel, Yummy! | No Comments

The eating was not yet over!  Right outside Namu Gaji

Previous entry:  Namu Gaji July 5, 2013

We saw this long line of people waiting to get their ice cream!  So we decided to have dessert here! 🙂

We had to line up too for maybe around 15 minutes.  The line was never ending from the time we entered to have our dinner til after we had gotten our ice cream

Finally we reached the counter, we did some tasting 🙂

We just shared one cup 🙂  Malted Vanilla with Peanut butter and milk chocolate!

You can also take home pints and quarts

Next door there was soft serve and bakery but for some reason there was no line and no one was really buying

I think it is because they only have one flavor offering while at the other side there are a variety of flavors to choose from
