They have All You can Eat but on specific dishes only

kaya-san-carlos-1.jpg

So we just ordered Ala Carte.  The price looks a bit expensive but the portion is a lot!  It’s really good for sharing.  And perfect for my boys who eat for two people! 🙂

The very kind and soft spoken owner, Sarah Chun, who even cooked for us

She told me to wrap the beef in the round radish ( I think ) wrapper.  At first I was scared but when I tried it, it was actually very good!

Father’s Day Brunch

By | Father's Day, Foodie, Travel | 2 Comments

Because we did not plan Father’s Day, we could not get any reservation in any of the restaurants we wanted to eat in.  So we just ate at home!  Good thing we have a chef 🙂  We just set up outside in the garden

fathers-day-brunch-1.JPG

Chef Javs prepared the brunch meal

fathers-day-brunch-3.JPG

Eggs benedict with Salmon for Lolo Jun

fathers-day-brunch-2.JPG

Eggs benedict with ham for the rest of us.  Chef Javs was complaining that the organic brown eggs he bought were a bit different from the regular white eggs which explains why the yolk looks like that.  Nevertheless it was still very good!

fathers-day-brunch-4.JPG

French Onion Soup – we did not have any french bread so he just used the sliced bread in the kitchen 🙂

fathers-day-brunch-5.JPG

Wow, this was a heavy brunch meal 🙂  Turkey!

Happy Father’s Day!

A great father to us and to my two kids!

More Yummy Stuff at Trader Joes

By | Foodie, Travel | No Comments

I am so glad I cannot buy cookie butter anymore – that way I can concentrate on looking at other things in Trader Joes! 🙂  And there are many many other good things to buy at Trader Joes! I go crazy!

The Best Mochi ice cream! But you can buy them here at Rustan’s and Waltermart 🙂

We bought this and Chef Javs cooked it at home! Yum!

Irresistible!  I like the way their meringues look and how firm they are!  And yes FAT FREE but they are never SUGAR FREE!

We bought this too 🙂

I love this discovery of Chef Javs!!  You buy the box frozen and then you just bake it in the oven! It was so good!!!!

more-yummy-stuff-at-trader-joes-9.jpg

Being the cheese lover that I am, I like this.  Saw other variants online 🙂  I also like this because it makes cooking easier especially in a house without a cook! Chef Javs normally does not like buying ready to made meals, but this one is an exception! 🙂

Nike Summer Tennis Camp

By | For kids, Sports, Summer, Travel | No Comments

Even on vacation abroad, the kids get bored!  Especially boys who don’t like to do much shopping!  So we enrolled Javier in Tennis Camp in Stanford University.  It’s a good thing the Chef likes sports too!  🙂

It was a 4 day camp for 4 hours each day.  There was a camp that included boarding but it did not fit our schedule.

You would think Americans are big, but Javier was the biggest among all the kids in Camp

There’s still nothing better than one on one instruction but we wanted Javier to learn to be with other kids

Free Gatorade on campus!

Thanh Long

By | Foodie, Travel | One Comment

When Dad and Mom arrived, this is the first restaurant they wanted to go to! They are natives in the city – after all they lived in SF for several years when dad was still in College and when my two brothers were born!

I am sure most Filipinos know this place and love it too.  It was very hard to make a reservation so we just took whatever available time they had.  This was the original restaurant that started it all.  I remember going here several times and it seems like it’s the same

Grocery Finds at the Bay Area

By | Foodie, Travel | 3 Comments

One of the germiest things in the planet are grocery carts

Previous entry:  The 7 Germiest Public Places July 29, 2011

So whenever I do the grocery, I make sure I have my sanitizer spray and I use it to clean the cart.  I noticed now in the States, many stores give complimentary wipes by the entrance!!!  What a relief!

At Target

At supermarkets! Thank you!!

I am always searching for unique items in the stores – You will really go crazy finding so many things in the supermarket.  In the States, there are many packed meals and ready to eat items

Even Macarons are being sold by the box at Costco

James bought this and liked it 🙂

I love the baking mixes that they have!! So many kinds!

Variants of Mac and Cheese

CHOCOLATES! I don’t really buy but I like window shopping 🙂

Cute Petit Fours at Draeger’s pastry showcase

Salts section!!!

So many kinds of crackers!!

Seasonings

Unique flavors!

Fiorucci 😉

Snacks snacks snacks!

The day we arrived, the new law was passed!  We did not know.  We went to the grocery on that day and they charged us US$ 0.10 per paper bag.  From then on, we brought our own bags 🙂

This was at Home Depot – they started earlier it seems?
