Happy 13th Birthday Javier

By | Celebrations, Foodie | No Comments

Celebrating the January birthdays!  Javier also thought of his Nana as he remembers she passed away the day after his birthday so he included her in the celebration

Mom was still feeling the valentine spirit as this was in February.  My feature is delayed and you might wonder why there are roses and hearts 🙂

Saturday Lunch with Lola

By | Foodie | No Comments

Every Saturday lunch is set aside for time with my Lola 🙂  I put together photos from different lunches from long ago so bear with the quality of the photos

My favorite view from where I sit 🙂  It seems this is Dad’s regular pose every Saturday

We always have a very YUMMY lunch spread with all homemade dishes either by the cook of Lola or by Tita Rose.  And take note of the Last supper which is a very Filipino thing and the round table.  Round tables are the best

Santouka now in Manila

By | Foodie | 2 Comments

Santouka was first introduced to us by Amado Fores.  He told Jaime to try it while we were in Hong Kong and Jaime dragged his Papa to go with him

When it opened here in Manila, we knew it sounded familiar and remembered Amado’s recommendation.

We have been hearing about the long lines but we braved it one friday night.  We tried to go early at around 6pm and there was still a line and the restaurant was packed!

The fake food 🙂

Finally we got a table but had to share with others, we requested to be transferred when a booth became available and they gave it to us

santouka-manila2.JPGsantouka-manila18.JPGsantouka-manila3.JPG

I was amazed at the number of staff they have here and they are all alert and standing by the counter watching and making sure everything is okay

santouka-manila5.JPG

We asked about the sizes so the waitress brought us the different sizes of bowls 🙂

santouka-manila4.JPGsantouka-manila7.jpg

James wanted to come here because our brother Mike was raving about this in particular- the pork cheeks

santouka-manila6.JPG

So all three boys had pork cheeks!

santouka-manila19.JPG

So happy they have other things in the menu for people like me 🙂

I had an event at the M Cafe about a month ago at the Museum Cafe.  Museum Cafe is part of the Raintree group that brings you all these restaurant concepts
