Birthday Dessert by Tivoli

By | Celebrations, Foodie, Great Inventions | No Comments

Thank you Tito Villanueva for sharing at Heart2Heart your special birthday dessert from Tivoli!  What a unique creation!!! I hope I can try that one day 🙂

From Tito Villanueva

“this was a gift of Tivoli and the dessert chef, though not new it was the 3rd time they did this according to them then. It did taste like halo-halo with ice creme on chocolate sphere canisters without the ice and milk!”

Right across Wright Park ( Horseback riding ) there is this place called Ketchup where there are several restaurants.  You can sit anywhere and order from any of the restaurants

Chefs Home Baguio

By | Foodie, Travel | 2 Comments

Since we do not really eat out when in Baguio- I just go and check out the places recommended by some friends.  This is one of them, an Asian restaurant run by a Malaysian Chef.   It’s right after the Mansion on the other side of the street

Fresh Talangka

By | Foodie, Travel | One Comment

Near the longganisa place, we saw this couple selling LIVE FROGS!!! GOSH!

talaga-07.jpgtalaga-08.jpg

I told him to smile for me 🙂

talaga-09.jpg

And small crabs!! My Mom told me that her Dad used to buy that for them and he would squeeze the talangka ( crab fat ) out and put it directly on garlic rice or plain rice!  Hmmmm… sounded so good!! I told Mom to make me try it!!

talaga-01.jpgtalaga-02.jpg

When it got home, the cook cooked it in the pan!!! OH NO!!  She said there were some that were not alive anymore so she cooked it!

talaga-03.jpg

Vicky told us that you have to soak them fresh in vinegar and then squeeze them.  We skipped the soaking part and the cook just cooked them and squeezed them.  The crab fat came out still and it actually tasted YUMMY!  I just added salt and pepper

It takes a lot of crabs to get talangka!

Baguio Longganisa

By | Foodie, Travel | 6 Comments

My Mom and I went to the Baguio market – this is like a ritual everytime we are in Baguio.  It’s amazing how I am always here but everytime I visit, I discover a new place there.  This time she took me to the Longganisa place. WOW!!!! It’s a sight to see but I do not know if I would really buy anything from here since I do not know who they are, where they make it and what it is made of 🙁

photo-longganisa-1.JPG

The names sound so yummy!!!

This vendor claimed they were the ones supplying the famous Baguio Country Club longganisa – so mom bought some and we tried it and it did not taste good 🙁  The smell was really bad while cooking which is why I would refrain from buying in this section
