A month ago, I was so happy to see these two beautiful Silang sisters – Rieta and Rina. I rarely see Rieta and so it was nice
And one morning we also had breakfast with Tito Bert – What a spread!!! 🙂
Bambi brought Champorado with tuyo which Tito Bert really loved and ate three servings
I could eat breakfast here everyday haha!! 🙂
Always happy to see the Tan (Jollibee ) sisters behind Sariwon, Donna @donna_a_tan and Diane. Donna is Managing Director and handles Network Development. Dianne handles Operations. Now there’s a third one 🙂 Dotz Dee who used to be based in Singapore but is now back and is in charge of Marketing for Sariwon. She’s also pregnant and soon to pop 🙂 So nice to see sisters working together in a business. More power to the three D’s and thank you for making Heart2Heart always a part of Sariwon from beginning till forever

It’s in an old house of a 90 year old lady who is the Aunt of Val’s bother in law. This house used to be Xocolat’s commissary to service their Podium branch. They put a few seats outside and many people were coming – so eventually they had to convert the place to restaurant cafe and now the commissary had to move to another location. What a nice problem to have! 🙂
Val used to make handmade fountains and handmade pottery together with a German guy 20 years ago. He put up a factory in Cagayan de Oro and they were making pottery and beautiful fountains like this. This is right as you enter the gate of the house

Plenty cute signs all over the place. Each of these are made by Val! Can you tell how detailed she is and how she customizes everything?

And here she is 🙂 Val Velasco Lopez. She has three other partners in the business – Rina Puno Avecilla ( Polly ) Pinky Yap Ortiz and Trish Malvar ( who is based in Singapore ). Val told me that she does the creative side of the business – the graphics, the design and R&D of the restaurant including the dishes. She tells me she loves pork and chocolates yet I wonder why she is so slim!! Where does it go? She also owns the Bead Shop which has 10 branches already. I keep telling her to open in Makati but she refuses because she is so hands on with all her businesses. She cannot imagine running a business that she cannot visit or be present in, hence we have to go all the way to Katipunan or Podium to dine at Xocolat. It’s worth the trip 
Love this chair by the entrance 🙂 Again another handmade and one of a kind fountain made by Val! She is very meticulous about everything and this is true in everything she does. She likes things that are handmade and made from scratch rather than just buying things commercially.
This is Xocolat’s version of ensaymada. I still have to try this but this is one of their bestsellers 
I am overwhelmed by everything inside – so many stories to tell!

These antique dolls are from the collection of the owner of the house. Val found it when she was fixing the house and instead of keeping the in a box, she displayed them so nicely in this cabinet. Some find them scary, I don’t 🙂 well maybe if it were at night and I were all alone in the house! haha

Even Grill can be Bespoke 🙂 Tried out Sage Bespoke Grill at Shangri-La Hotel Makati for lunch. They opened February last year as a fine dining restaurant which replaced Red. And in September they changed the concept to Grill.
For lunch they also have Lunch Set and Go for those who want to have a quick meal

And look whoelse we saw! Lanai and Adam Tabura from the Aloha plate team – They just arrived from Hawaii yesterday. They are winners of ” America’s next food truck race” They are guest chefs for the Dee family and will have some tasting …….. Who knows what may come out of that
Eric Dee told me some good news!! D’O will be opening in November in Manila at the new Shangrila at the Fort – D’O stands for Davide Oldani. He has a restaurant in Milan called D’O which has an 18 month booking. It’s the cheapest Michelin starred restaurant in Europe with 11.50 euro for a 3-course lunch and dinner at 38.-40 euros for a 4 course meal. He is also the culinary ambassador for this year’s World Expo in Milan. He is the brand ambassador for Samsung, Lavazza and Kartell. I guess this is one of the things Rikki Dee was talking about! There’s more to come!

Our beautiful hosts for today!! Bernice Baculi, Regional Operations Manager for SM Supermalls. She is in charge of Operations for the whole SM Aura. She just joined last December 2013. And Grace Magno, Vice President Advertising for the whole SM! Enjoyed so much our 5 hour food crawl at SM Aura. It’s fun because they love eating too like us and they know many yummy dishes so we have plenty tips
In Niu, you can order anything in any station and they will bring it to your table. This is a great service!!! I wish all buffets offered this 🙂 That way I can order more things! haha!!! Usually you cannot carry too much! But seriously, its that plus being able to share the dishes with others and I noticed that when it is served it is more fresh
Yummy Bibingka crepe from the crepe dessert station. We just ordered this from the table and they served it. Not everyone knows about this unless they suggest it in the station or unless you know this secret 🙂 Thanks to Bernice for the tip!

I always imagined how a food crawl would be like hopping from one restaurant to another – and wow! It’s so much fun!!!! haha!! Too much fun but also too much yummy food 🙂 It’s always nice to do it with a big group so you can order more and share!!! It’s exactly how I like to eat – with great company and with small bites.
A few weeks ago we did a food crawl in SM Aura. Our first stop was Ogetsu Hime. Usually, this platter of assorted sushi will be enough for me – but that day I ate all of this plus more!!! 🙂 Special Suhi flown in from Japan – Otoro, Ama Ebu, Anago and Engawa – SUPER AMAZING YUMMY!

Aside from that we had Matsusaka beef!!

With the sauce plate which came with lemon, salt and steak sauce. Though for me, when I eat Japanese beef, I want to eat it plain so I can taste all the fat :-O and flavors from the beef!!
