Motorino Born in Napoli Raised in Brooklyn and Now in Manila

By | Foodie | 4 Comments

Congratulations to my cousins, Marga Santos Lorenzana, Trisha Ding Santos, Eugene Lorenzana and Bubu Santos on the opening of Motorino!  With Owner, founder and chef Mathieu Palombino and John Lopez, Operations Manager

Even their parents, Tito Butch and Tita Bing Bing were very active in setting the business up and making sure everything went smoothly

Motorino born in Napoli, raised in Brooklyn now Open in Manila! At Greenbelt 3, 3rd floor.  Motorino means small motorcycle and just like a small motorcycle that can go around easily and is accessible to all types of people, that is how he wants Motorino to be, a pizza for everyone to enjoy

Mathieu has been here for a month to set up and train the staff of Motorino.  He worked in many restaurants in New York – Executive Chef of Brasserie Ruhlmann Art and First Chef de Cuisine of BLT amongst many others.  He is very hands on and has very strict standards

Watch him make the pizza dough!!  According to my cousin Marga, this is the least fattening pizza among all pizzas in the city since ingredients are not processed and they come from Napoli

As soon as you enter is the To Go counter

Very nice interiors

Backdrop of the Williamsburg Bridge – Motorino opened it’s first branch in 2007 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn across Peter Luger Steakhouse.  The second branch will open in East Village, New York and there are two branches in Hong Kong

Only pizzas made the right way and no pasta here at Motorino

Insalata Caprese

Woodfired oven

Mushroom and Sausage.   All pizzas use Fiori di Latte flown in from Napoli together with other of the key ingredients

The New York way of eating a pizza, LIFT

FOLD and EAT!

Meatball pizza Special which is not on the menu.  They make the meatballs fresh everyday and only the regulars know about this special

Prosciutto di Parma

Pizza wine which is on the sweet side which is what I like.  It is from the Amalfi Coast made out of 3 different grapes

Delicious Tiramisu which is made in house with Mathieu’s recipe

Torta Al Cioccolato

Love the Mama Mary altar in the restaurant

Fish and Chips at Bondi Beach

By | Foodie, Travel | No Comments

James said to google lifeguards Bondi Beach!  Hmmm…..So we walked down the beach to look for them! 🙂  unfortunately none in sight!

source-daily-telegraph-australia.jpgsource-aquabumpscom.jpg

Instead we went to the main street to look for the best fish and chips.  We did not know which one so we just walked and saw this!

So we entered!  Even if we were so full from lunch, we just wanted to try it

fish-and-chips-at-bondi-beach-12.JPG

Plenty fresh seafood

WOW!!!

They have malt vinegar!!  Very important for us to have malt vinegar with fish and chips!! They have salt. pepper and chicken powder!  It’s important to put salt and pepper aside from malt vinegar and here they have chicken powder! 🙂
fish-and-chips-at-bondi-beach-2.JPG

Okay, it was good!! We do not know if it is the best in the city because we have not tried all but this was good even after we had lunch already 🙂

And we saw this sign too so we ordered to try!
fish-and-chips-at-bondi-beach-5.JPGfish-and-chips-at-bondi-beach-7.JPG

It’s mostly batter and with lots of oil, so maybe not so healthy then the Mars bar is inside the thick batter.  So you can skip this and just concentrate on the fish and chips! Yum! 🙂

Icebergs at Bondi Beach Part 2

By | Foodie, Travel | No Comments

We are back!  A good reason to go to Bondi Beach since we do not really surf! 🙂

Previous entry:  Icebergs June 25, 2009

Aside from great food, this time was memorable for us because we finally saw Cameron Diaz!  I took this since she was going the other direction from our table

Previous entry: Hotels in Sydney May 12, 2014

James was smarter to await her return and took this 🙂

Our server

Javier says there are helicopters flying above to check on Bondi Beach for safety and security – watching out for sharks! 🙂  So these must be them

Finally LAMB!!!

Security guards of Cameron Diaz waiting outside the restaurant!  Spotted two photographers / paparazzis like me 🙂 waiting a bit far from the restaurant – they have their zoom lenses anyway 🙂

Appetito

By | Foodie, Travel | No Comments

Nearby the hotel is this Italian restaurant which we liked 🙂  It’s across the Museum of Contemporary Art.  There were other good Italian restaurant recommendations, but sometimes convenience wins 🙂

I liked the Vespa display in front 🙂

It has three floors, this being the second and where we stayed

It’s a cozy place to meet up with friends!  We were so happy to see Mayet.  If you are a regular customer of Rustan’s Supermarket Makati, you will know this lady.  One of our most loyal employees and the best in customer service.  She now lives in Sydney and first worked in David Jones as customer service rep and now moved to America Express  first as Customer Care professional and now Resolution Analyst.  Obviously an expert in customer service.  We love her!
